Former Topless Model Arrested Over Facebook Terrorism Links To Islamic State

A former glamour model who was listed on an Islamic State watchlist has been arrested by anti-terrorism police in the United Kingdom. Kimberley Miners was arrested on suspicion of possessing material likely to be useful for committing or preparing an act of terrorism. The 27-year-old, who posed topless for The Sun newspaper, converted to Islam in 2010 after the death of her father. She used Facebook to communicate with a British fighter in Syria, a man known as Abu Usamah al-Britani, and allegedly shared violent Isis propaganda material on social media. Miners was arrested on Friday and released on Saturday, the report said. She was previously warned about communicating with extremists online. Police also searched her home in Bradford, Yorkshire. The Independent reported Miners denied having any links to terrorism and she has previously said she did not want to be a jihadi bride but she was interested in travelling to Syria. A spokeswoman for the North East Counter Terrorism Unit said a 27-year-old Bradford woman was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation. Social media accounts believed to have been used by Miners have links to suspected extremists, and included videos of Isis training. Miners turned to Islam after her father died in a freak accident in 2010, when he fell head first into a frozen lake. Miners has previously said converted to Islam for peaceful reasons. "I've gone from glamour model to something completely different." Anti-terror police were reportedly concerned she was being groomed and would eventually leave the UK for Syria. She had previously visited camps in Turkey near the border with Syria.
